Week 3

Today, is the first day I've decided to record my journal to a Fat Free self in 2010. My cousin convinced me to record my journey and share my day to day trials/tribulations and VICTORIES.

To begin, its the 3rd week of of my 2010 change. My journey began on 12/25/09. This occurred because I purchased a Wii system with the Wii Fit Plus game/board for my niece. From there, I got the idea to start a fitness program and to get fit in 2010. My goal is to lose 73 lbs. I won't share the starting weight but lets say its high and not healthy for me.

Here are my statistics:

  • 5'7"

  • 37 years old

  • a full-time working female

  • live in the Metro Detroit area

  • In a committed relationship.
All of this information is important b/c these are the questions you're asked on most of these weight loss program websites. The last one is important, b/c my significant other will be mentioned quite frequently in these posts. His name will be "H" - so I don't share his identity but I'll share his reactions, etc in these posts.

So from there, I've worked out daily - building my strength up to tolerate the enduring pain I feel everyday. I started out slow. And I mean slow. I worked on the Wii Fit Plus doing the cardio and aerobics for no more than 30 minutes. Believe me it hurt me mercilessly. But its worth it- I think.

Now I'm at week 3 and I've built my endurance to include another Wii game called EA Sports and EA Sports -More Activities. It really cool. And the exercises are killing me. I've also added another half hour to my workout time. Which is crazy b/c I'm ready to pass out after 30 minutes. But I take a 3 minute break and get back in there.

My cat -Felix is watching me everyday. Just looking at his mommy sweat and curse away.

I've also added the weight loss medication - Alli and slow changed my diet. You need to do that in order for the workouts to benefit you. I started the Alli on Saturday 1/9. But I had already began to change my food intake. One being not drinking POP during the day or all together. And I miss MOUNTAIN DEW and PEPSI. Those are like wine to me. Oh did I mention I smoke too? Yeah, bad habit. I'm stopping, its not easy but I've whined myself down to 3 cigs a day. That's a miracle for me.

OK, get ready for the adventure. I'm going to track it all. The good and the bad. And I have to warn everyone. I have a nasty mouth. So you will find some profanity along the way, please excuse me if you don't care for it. Its another habit to break. But one thing at a time.

So join me for some fun and pain....

  1. As you could probably tell while writing this, you have some demons to exise--the extra weight, smoking and cursing (LOL!) but let's focus on one thing at a time. I'm sure that once you get your new body, you won't want to put anything in it or on it that doesn't boost your health and overall longevity.
As the cousin that convinced you to do this, I'm very proud of you. I want you to record your journey so that you feel like you owe it to everyone to keep it up. It decreases the feeling of it not being a big deal if you slack off. Just to join in solidarity I am going to start back with yoga to increase my strength and endurance (so I don't hurt the kids). Great going and remember --as in the military--- just stay the course.

  7. Hey you know I don't mind "adult language." Fire away!

My girlfriend and I swear at Wii Fit Plus all the time, especially when the trainer berates you on your poor strength and balance.

  8. I know with all of the added stress, it can be hard to stick to your plan. Let's definately stay away from those cigarettes in your time of stress though. I am trying to be there in solidarity but finding time for me to work out is proving more challenging than I thought it would be. Kudo's to you for coming home and doing it. I'm going to keep working at it.
    Signed cuz Ali
